Practical
Information

Everything you need to plan your trip to Lviv for the Norwegian–Ukrainian Business Forum.

Travel to Ukraine is undertaken at your own responsibility. As Ukraine remains a country at war, security considerations are critically important and require continuous awareness and preparation.

While we strive to provide participants with comprehensive and up-to-date practical and safety information, each traveler remains personally responsible for their own decisions, travel arrangements, insurance coverage, and safety throughout the trip.

To support your preparations, we have collected practical recommendations and resources. A dedicated security briefing can also be conducted prior to departure.

Being informed is being prepared.

Travel & Arrival

The most common and recommended route to Ukraine is:

  • flight/train to Krakow or Rzeszów (Poland),
  • onward train to Przemyśl,
  • and then train from Przemyśl to Lviv.

During the summer holiday period, we do not recommend crossing the border by bus, as border crossing times can be highly unpredictable. Train travel is generally more stable and reliable.

At the same time, delays may occur due to the current situation and operational conditions affecting Ukrainian railway infrastructure. Ukrainian Railways (UZ) recommends allowing at least 3–4 hours between connecting trains.

We also strongly recommend preparing a small "grab bag" for your journey, including:

  • passport and important documents,
  • power bank and chargers,
  • snacks and water,
  • personal medication,
  • and a basic first aid kit.

Additional guidance on routes, ticket booking, and travel planning will be included in the Travel Advisory.

Entry & Insurance

Citizens holding a Norwegian passport can travel to Ukraine visa-free for short stays.

However, all participants are strongly encouraged to:

  • ensure that their passport is valid for the duration of travel,
  • verify any individual entry requirements applicable to their nationality,
  • and arrange valid travel and health insurance covering travel to Ukraine.

Please note that not all insurance providers cover travel to countries affected by war or armed conflict. Participants are therefore strongly advised to carefully review their insurance conditions before departure.

The Travel Advisory includes additional information regarding:

  • international insurance providers,
  • entry-related practicalities,
  • and useful official resources.

Safety & On-Site Logistics

While staying in Ukraine, it is important to install an air raid alert application, which provides real-time notifications regarding potential security threats.

Links to recommended alert applications are included in the Travel Advisory.

Participants should:

  • always carry identification documents,
  • follow local instructions,
  • remain attentive to security updates,
  • and familiarize themselves with shelter locations upon arrival.

A dedicated security briefing can be conducted before travel if necessary. We kindly ask all participants to approach the trip with flexibility and understanding, since schedules and logistics may occasionally be affected by the security situation.

More details will be published as the forum approaches. For urgent enquiries, please reach out at post@nucc.no.
